Writing to live…

The whispering in my head started when I was a wee lass. I would read books the whole day and when I would lay in my bed at night, hoping to sleep like the baby that I was, the whispering would start. The words I had digested during the day, they would all come alive in my head at night. They would flow from my head into my veins… those words, aye… they kept me alive.
That was me then.

This is me now.

Charles Bukowski(writing god that he is) wrote this about writing… “Unless it comes out of your soul like a rocket, unless being still would drive you to madness or suicide or murder, don’t do it. When it is truly time, and if you have been chosen, it will do it by itself and it will keep on doing it. Until you die or it dies in you”.

Again, this is me now.
My sad moments, the times I have felt like I was suffocating, the good times, the “I dont know what just happened” times… writing has kept me alive. Without the whispering words, my pen, and paper, there would be no me. Without the outlet called writing, those words would whisper until I couldn’t take it anymore and ending it all(in a way infinitely worse than physical death) will be the only way to get relief. I would be dead so to speak. So yes… this is me now… writing not for money or fame or popularity… but to thrive. This is me, writing to live…

And so I want to use this opportunity to thank Rob of Weight2lose2013. He has nominated me for the Very Inspiring Blog award… Me, the newbie blogger. He has been such a backbone on here and I’m uber psyched to know him. You rock Rob!

As part of accepting this award nomination though, I will have to answer the following questions. So here goes:

answer: two… English and Igbo(A Nigerian language)
2) What country were you born in?
answer: Nigeria
3)Coffee or tea?
answer: Both.
4)Do you believe in love at first sight?
answer: No. But there is such a thing as lust at first sight.
5)Cats or dogs?
answer: Neither.
6)Name a vacation destination that you haven’t been to, but want to go.
answer: Mykonos, Greece.
7)What is your favourite aricle of clothing?
answer: my pair of brown shorts.
8)Describe an average day in your life.
answer: I wake up… say my prayers… go running… shower… coffee or tea(depending on my mood)… off to work… an accidental lunch in between… home from work… Dinner… shower… prayers… a page from any book I can lay my hands on… listening to the whispers in my head… sleep. All this done with earphones in my ears jamming away to rock music.
9)What is your favourite film?
answer: Choosing one film would be betraying the others.
10)Describe someone influential in your life
answer: He is a cunning foodie with a rabid sense of humour, great taste in music, Roach hater, Vodka drinker, Ice cream lover, legs like that of Hercules, and an amazing beard.
11)What is the first thing that you find attractive in the opposite sex?
answer: A sense of humour…(a girl has gotta laugh!)
